You know, I have to wonder how many work at home moms actually believe in their business and take it seriously?
Now, I say this with a bit of hesitance, as I’ve been there, done that. I know what it feels like to “work” a business I have no passion for, to sign up for companies that I felt “pushed” me into training programs and strategies to increase my sales that I was in no way prepared for. Hence, I’ve been on the up and down roller coaster ride of searching for legitimate companies online I could work for…only to come to the conclusion that I already had what I needed and everything it took to get my own ideas off the ground to form my very own business.
If you’re in direct sales and it is working for you, I applaud you! There are many people who find GREAT, legitimate companies which are NOT pushy and give you all the resources and training you need to work their business and find true success there.
In fact, I highly encourage direct sales company reps to network and advertise at my site for extra exposure. There are plenty of new stay at home moms every day who are looking for legitimate opportunities and I wanted to make sure that my site reflected that there are great opportunities out there.
I just happened to be one of those who sort of had to start from scratch, though– and not saying it was better or worse — it just took a little more time …
But here’s my point: once we’ve recognized our true business interests and get started with a legitimate direct sales company, or start a company of our own — how serious do we take our business?
I realize the term “work at home mom” has become widespread, and sad to say, I notice a disparity between women entrepreneurs who consider themselves professionals and those who consider themselves “just a work at home mom”. The difference is the mindset and how one views her business.
Sure, we are moms (many of us)…but let’s not forget that we can still be professional at what we do for a living! You’re not “Just a Mom” –you’re a mom! And you’re not “Just working from home”, you are a true entrepreneur with a home based business.
Your thoughts please?
