marketing strategy..
Podcasting to Market Your Business
by Demetria Zinga, M.S.
RSS feeds
are an ever-growing, popular way to syndicate your material,
whether by blog, audioblog, or podcasting. RSS stands for
“real simple syndication” and is essentially the
mechanism by which podcasts are delivered. Let’s focus
in on the end result of the RSS feed.
What I
really want to talk about today is how podcasting can actually
help your business marketing ventures.
Once you
have an RSS feed, it becomes that much simpler to promote
your content on the web. Remember that syndication is the
key to distributing your podcast in ways that you never could
on your own. It becomes more or less a viral affect, and before
you know it your podcast feed is being downloaded and listened
to by people all over the world.
Here’s
an example of how I do this for many of my podcasts, including
Christian Ladies Business Radio. Once I’ve created my
mp3 audio files, and created an RSS feed for my podcast, it’s
now time to get the word out about my new internet radio show!
This is the exciting part, and also the one key thing that
can begin to bring in much more traffic to your website. This
is called podcast marketing.
If you
have a podcast, you have all the more opportunity on the web
to distribute your content, including your website address.
This not only increases visibility of your website by including
more links back to your site, but it also sets you up as an
expert in your industry each and every time you develop an
audio file about your subject of expertise.
Another
aspect of marketing your podcast (besides the fact that you
can have plenty of links back to your site throughout the
world wide web), is that you may also include references to
your organization services or products throughout the content
of your podcast as well. So, now as people are listening to
your podcast they will begin to hear about what offerings
you may have for them.
Now,
of course, you may want to do this is in a rather non-commercial
way, especially if your podcast category has nothing to do
with your business. But if your podcast is built on the premise
of offering topics of discussion around your subject of expertise,
which happens to fit right into the niche of your business,
then it becomes much easier to suggest a service or product
you may have to offer.
As you can see, marketing your podcast can be one of the best
things you could do for web traffic and increasing your visibility
as an expert on the web. Give podcasting a try…I’m
sure you’ll love it!
