Web Traffic & SEO Business Articles & Guides
It's totally true that search engine optimization (other wise known as SEO) is the one surefire way to increase web traffic.
Don't get hung up on all the terminology, though...it can be a bit confusing at first. Really, it doesn't have to be.
Search engine ranking is a term you'll often hear. What this means is that search engines such as Google (currently the top search engine) uses algorithms to perform its daily searching tasks.
With thousands (should I say millions?) of people searching for things in Google daily, it needs to have an algorithm, or a way in which it computes which websites turn up first, middle and last in the search results.
When certain key terms are used (for example "work at home moms"), then it performs its basic mathematical operations to compute which sites fit the bill based on the keywords and basic theme of the websites.
When you have an online business and your sole operation online is based on whether or not you have web traffic (because without the traffic you don't stand a chance of making money, right?), then you really do need to begin understanding how search engines work, and what you can do to make sure that your website fits the bill for Google.
You just need to do a little homework to prepare and optimize your websites for the search engines, but once you've done your homework you'll begin to see results with time.
These results usually grant you increasing traffic with time...and not just any old traffic, but the actual audience you want reading your websites...the people that you want to sell to.
Your potential customer or client lies within your ability to make sure your site is optimized properly...so whatever you do, make sure that at least you understand SEO, or that your web designer understands this as well.
